In the last year I've had the opportunity to delve into an area of photography that is both challenging and less common in the Kalamazoo area—Sports. Beginning in the fall of 2013 I had the opportunity to spend time photographing the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team.
Being in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) means that the team's roster tends to fluctuate as players are called up to the American Hockey League (AHL), and the National Hockey League (NHL). It's a lot of fun to follow the players as they prove themselves in the minors, move up and in as little as a few weeks can wind up playing with the big guns in the NHL.
